Meet Your 4-H Agent

Please welcome Matt Benge, 4-H Agent for Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office. Raised in Yulee, FL, he graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences, with minors in education and leadership.

Matt is currently working on his Master’s degree in Agricultural Education and Communication with a specialization in Extension Education. For his thesis, Matt is studying the career decisions of Florida extension agents within their first three years of service.

His role as the 4-H Agent is to provide leadership for the 4-H program in Alachua County. In this respect, matt oversees the entire 4-H program, including, but not limited to, program policies, enrollments and records, risk management, communications, educational materials, volunteer recruitment, development, and management, and the development and sustainability of educational programs and partnerships in Alachua County.

Matt’s research interests include leadership, professional development, volunteer development, and experiential learning.
